Search Engine Submissions
There is little point in having a website if no-one can find it. Apart from the obvious, such as adding your website address to your business fascia and stationary, you will want to attract business from areas that you cannot practically and financially reach. This is where we can help. We can submit your website to search engines and directory listings, such as Google and Yahoo. This may help people who are looking for the very products that you provide, to discover your services. Search engines are by far the most common method on the Internet to find information. Banner ads are also used as a searching method, but on a much smaller scale. If you think about it, if you are searching for something on the Internet you will more likely find it by using a search engine rather than a banner advertisement on a website, that would also in itself need to be found.
We do not promise anything when submitting to a search engine like many other companies do. We believe that claims such as "...guaranteed top 5 ranking..." are not always possible. Assurances cannot be made when webmasters have no control over how the search engine works. Search Engines, such as Google, use many algorithms to position websites. Tricks are sometimes used in an attempt to fool them, such as the repeated use of popular keywords that does not even match its content. It is in their best interest to provide the users the most applicable information and therefore many search engines strive to counteract these methods which can ultimately lead to a permanent ban of the offending website.
Unfortunately, websites that incorporate visually appealing technology such as flash, are not recognised by most search engines and this can effect ranking positions. We understand that there needs to be a compromise between design and ranking positions. We can explain this to you. Having said this, there are techniques used such as "doorway pages" and "doorway domains" that may help overcome this compromise. These are essentially HTML pages tailored specifically for search engines and can only be seen by them. They are created to be ranked highly and are thus void of any appealing designs. Internet users arriving to these pages are forwarded to a more visually appealing look whilst search engines are not. Since these methods are also open to abuse, many search engines frown upon them. |
